HI! I have spent so much time lurking to get info, that I finially said to myself might as well join. My family and I have dived head first into the chicken and duck thing. We have 1 red sex-link, 2 Australorp hens, 1 Barred Rock /Black sex-link cross rooster, 4 Easter Egger pullets, 26 Australorp chicks, and 1 White Crested Black Polish chick, and 4 Kahki Campbell ducklings. Oh my gosh that looks like a lot typed out! LOL. I think that ought to provide enough eggs for a family of four. And dare I say there are more coming....? I am looking forward to getting to know the group and sharing information on such a fun topic.

Thanks for the welcome! I missed the New Member Templet Question part, so here is a little more.

I am the mother of two beautiful girls who are now crazy poulty lovers also. My husband is getting the hang of it. LOL. Aside from the birds, we have two horses, three goats, three dogs, and four cats. I love ridding, hiking, camping, reading, and just sitting and taking in the day. I lived on a farm for a few years as a teen aged girl, and we had mountians of chickens, all free ranged. They were so much fun.. This is my first experience with ducks. We live in S. Oregon on ten acres which we bought about a year ago. I think that covers it:)

-My 12yr old daughter loves them, she shows in 4-H and open shows and loves it. Sure is alot cheaper then showing horses, which I did for 40 yrs. Are your girls old enough for 4-H???
