I always enjoy all the help from others and hope I can share some of my knowledge too. I have been raising chickens since 2012. Since moving to NC in 2021, I acquired some chickens from a local person. Since I got these chickens I have had many health issues. I had brought with my about 10 hens and one rooster from TN, all healthy. Some have passed from old age some from the terrible heat here, I believe. I run about 4 fans in my barn to help cool them down. But I find I learn something new all the time. I also have two goats left from my small herd and they are thriving. Anyway I am nursing a chicken hopefully back to health with what appears to be nerve damage from a fall off of the perch. I have been nursing her for about 1 month, she had one leg that would not function and toes curled. the vet said she is almost 100% it is nerve damage and she wanted me to put her down. I decide to rehabilitate. I also am treating her for Marek's just in case as it can cause her to be like she is. She is very alert and healthy in every aspect now, except the foot curling. She lives in a big dog kennel in my feed room and goes outside in a fenced enclosure every day for fresh air and stimulation. I am still working on a proper brace for her foot, trial and error. Anyway, glad to be here! Thanks for letting me join.
