Hi I have 2 days old duckling hatched in incubator and doesn’t want to eat anything! What should I do?

Sorry a little late to the party I keep my phone off most nights. Anyways back to the duckling..Sometimes it can take up to 48 hours before they start eating due to yolk absorption as stated above. If it was an assisted hatch or seemed to be a little slow from the start compared to the rest they always usually take a full 48 hours before eating. Poultry vitamins usually do the trick for a little extra boost if it is more weak then the rest, I prefer poultry cell. I take a syringe with .25cc of poultry cell in it and put 1 drop on the edge of the inside of their bill. Allow them to "chew" a couple of times and if they do well add another drop continuing this process until the syringe is empty. Do not put it in all at once otherwise there is a very high chance that you will aspirate the duckling. If it has already started eating and drinking I would still highly recommend a poultry supplement with electrolytes and niacin, but follow the directions to dilute it in your ducklings water instead of the syringe method. For their food I always wet it until it is oatmeal consistency like a mash for the first week. For temperature at 2 days old my brooder is running 90-92F, do you have a thermometer in there? Also if it is alone it very well may be more stressed than usual.

:welcome :frow I have made a mash out of some crumbles with vitamin water and taken a tweezers and fed the chick/duckling a little at a time every couple of hours and eventually they gained some strength. Some will thrive but some won't. You will find a lot of good information here BYCArticles.jpg Good luck and have fun...
