I have been investigating the regulations for selling my extra eggs....do I really have to do all these things just to sell the eggs to pay for their food and housing..I would have to get a permit limited sales $130.00 mobile vender license $130.00,food cert. manager course $160.00 , and have to have a special place to wash / package eggs not my home that has a 3 compartment sink hot & cold running water ,concrete floor ect. just to sell maybe 5 doz. eggs a week! I just can't believe it please someone tell me it's not so!!!

I'm glad you joined our community.

I've never sold eggs before, so don't know the regulations.

Those regulations sound very extensive, though!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Every town is different. In my town there are no regulations as long as I am not selling to any business that will resell my eggs. I can sell eggs to my neighbors and such and I don't have to do a thing.

Good luck with your egg business and welcome to our flock!

Maybe if you just plan on having a small venture and not supplying large businesses- rules are not so stringent. You do have to realize with say a salmonella outbreak from eggs, someone has to be responsible. A grocer would need to feel confident that selling your eggs, is safe for his customers.
