My one female duck goes off somewhere secret everyday once I let them out. I'm thinking she has a nest somewhere shes laying and sitting on her eggs. What do yall think? Thanks!

She could very well have a nest or she could be very independent. Some hens like to wander off on their own away from the flock. I have had several over the years that simply preferred alone time and never went broody.

Hi, welcome to the forum! Glad you joined!

There is a duck section to this forum. I'll provide a link. Chickens may be in the forum title but we accept all fowl.

If she is disappearing practically every day for a time and eventually coming back she could be laying an egg. This sounds like it is a good possibility. But if she is coming back and spending the night in the coop with the others she is not yet broody. If she ever does not come back to spend the night she is probably broody.

Thank you! Well she goes off first thing when I open the pen but she has laid eggs in there. However, my dog likes to sometimes go in their pen while theyre out and get an egg. So that could maybe be why, she knows that we get them or he does? But she is back in the afternoon so I would think she would need to brood longer than a few hours a day.
