I'm new to back yard chickens. I love chicken and I may post some photos of our baby chicks when we get some. We recently had all of our chickens died by a fox so tell me if you have any tips for keeping our chickens safe. Anyway here's some photos of our chickens
Sorry about the fox attack! The best protection for any chickens of any age is hardware cloth.
My runs are enclosed with it and have aprons of HWC around their bases. And, my poultry is only out of the runs and "free ranging" when I am home and can keep an eye on them. Also, two very watchful geese (who don't actually care AT ALL about the chickens) sound the alarm when they spot a threat (like eagles overhead).
Welcome. As others have said, use hardware cloth. At the same time, the hardware cloth is only as good as how it is used...it has to be fastened securely to something sturdy, it has to have an apron to prevent diggers, and it has to cover every hole larger than an inch,
