Is DuMOR Poultry Feed OK for chickens, I haven't gave them any shots or anything, they are free range all the time till bed time. I am trying to be as natural as I can. Any info would be great!! THANKS!!

After all the other feeds went way up in price, I switched to DuMor also, it's saving me about 5.00 a week. It's made for TSC by Purina, so its an ok basic feed. I find I need to feed a little more calcium supplement with it though, but I just dry and grind up their eggs and add some goat milk. They love it and the egg shells went back to being hard.

Why the corn? That will bring your protein % down.

REALLY? I didn't know that, I was told to ad cracked corn to get the most out of it, I have a BIG tin can out there with 1 bag cracked corn to 1 bag feed. I mixed it and then just give them a try fool each day. Plus scraps and treats and they are free range everyday from sunrise to dark.

Dumor feed is fine. Really, as long as you are giving your chickens a little outdoor free range time, most any brand is ok. All are about the same regardless of the advertising. I've used darn near every feed I know of at some point and in my opinion, they are all about the same.
Commercial laying pellets have everything your chickens need to live except water. Commercial starter is about the same except it lacks calcium. Most commercially raised layers never get anything else.

Corn now is different. A chicken can live on corn or scratch grain but it isn't good for them to eat it as a sole diet. It isn't a complete food. Personally I wouldn't mix it half and half, I'd feed them the regular feed free choice and give them maybe a hand full of corn as a treat every day or two.

If you really want healthy, happy hens, just keep doing what you are doing except for mixing the feed half and half. See that they get plenty of pelleted feed plus fresh clean water, some bugs, grass and fresh air.

BTW, it's ok to finish feeding the bucket you already have mixed too.

THANKS so much. I will do that. Ya like I said, they are free range from sun up till sun down. Clean water 24 7.
You are welcome.

You are doing fine with dumor. I feed my birds Dumor free choice. They free range all day every day. I toss them a little corn and black oil sunflower seed in the mornings when I can remember. Not a bunch, just a hand full of each for 14 birds to get them scratching around to start off thier day.
