Hi. I'm Cindy from North Dakota and the temps have been frigid.

:welcome

Hi Cindy, I use a heated dog bowl for my 5 birds.

I do or have used a number of different winter waterers.
A heated base plastic fount found at any farm store.
A light bulb box or cinder block with a light in it. Regular waterer on top. Homemade.
Rubber bowls.
Insulated 55gal barrel with a stock tank heater and a pump to circulate through an insulated nipple waterer header. (Had a bunch of birds then which I'm getting back to again) homemade.
Nipple bucket with a bucket heater. Homemade.
A cheap yardsale cooler with a bucket heater & nipple header out the side. Homemade.

Once when the power went out & I had to leave for work I filled a cinder block in the run with hot embers from the wood stove placed a scrap piece of metal over it and put a metal waterer on top. Redneck homemade. Lol

I was Southern Indiana & Kentucky. You guys still have snow on the ground in june sometimes so insulating to retain heat is probably a big concern. That reflective bubble wrap and duct tape could be pretty useful. Ive wrapped headers with that. Just make sure to tape it good or they will nibble the bubble wrap.
