Hi everyone! I'm from Johannesburg
(1) When did you get your chickens? I'm quite new to chickens, I've had my chooks for about 6 weeks! I bought my first few at about 18 weeks of age and now succumbed to 'More Hens Disease' and got a few more last weekend!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now
I have 2 Roos and 7 hens. I also have 8 ducks!
(3) What breeds do you have?
6 Orpingtons, 1 cochin and one polish bantam (I think, I inherited her with my house)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love that they follow me around my yard, come running with their funny little strides when I call, and of course EGGS Also, Chicken TV is very entertaining
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Riding horse, dabbling in gardening, getting lost in internet reading
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a cool husband and two equally cool little girls (4 & 2). I am an eye surgeon in training!
In terms of pets, we also have a cat and a 22 year old leopard tortoise called Puzzle.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community.
Found it via the Google I've been lurking in these forums since before I got my hens trying to absorb everything!
