Hi! I'm from the Cariboo area in BC (Canada) & I'm new 🙃.

In the Brooder
We got our chickens in July, but brought them home the last week of September when we finished converting our garden shed into a coop. The reno was a lot of work. New roof, shingles, walls, added insulation, power points, thermostat (winters get very cold here 🥶). We used materials we had at home, had never done anything like this before (my hubby & me). We were very proud of our end result. Not bad for a couple of old amateurs!! Our chooks seem to love their new home.

We have 4 chooks, with a hatch date of May 15th. One Mosaic named Ginger, 1 Wyandotte named Daisy, and 2 Cream Legbars named Penny & Rosie. They all started laying eggs the first few days of this month (November). Penny & Rosie lay olive colored eggs, Daisy lays a light brown egg & Ginger lays a light brown egg with white speckles.

I found the BYC site when we first got out chooks & have been a fan ever since. It's got a heap of information in it for newbies like us & I've wanted to register from day one. No better time like today!! We have lots of questions & will need your help & expertise.
