Hello! I tend to be an ubernerd who gets engrossed with my pets and hobbies. The silliest example would be when I had a work Betta fish and knew way more than anyone would have to know about them.
I love my pets (currently two dogs and five chicks). I had so many questions that I couldn't find on the general internet that I decided to join a forum, and now I'm here.
Why chickens for me? It started when five hens would wonder around our work. I guess a woman had a coop behind one of the shops and would let them run around during the day. No need to worry for them. I work in a farming community and the industrial park is set back and next to a farm. Cars aren't an issue and we haven't seen predictors due to the office dogs who also run around. Thankfully, our office dog seemed scared of them and kept his distance. Anyways, I loved seeing them waddle around outside my window, but then they sold the office and the chickens moved.
My neighbors have chickens so I decided to investigate more and everyone I talked to who have them, love them. I found that the ones who say they are awful pets are those who haven't had them. Since I made up my mind, I went Friday September 23rd and picked my five babies. Two Austrolorps, two Americana (well, that is what they called them, but I already know they are mostly likely EE's) and one Rhode Island Red. I adore them and can spend a good chunk of time just watching them, as can our one dog as she's a bird dog and is really concerned about them. But she only wants to watch, not eat.
You may end up seeing me post a lot. I used to be really involved with the Xbox (video games) forums to the point Microsoft made me a Moderator. Madame Dork is actually my gamertag, but it has become a large part of my life so I tend to use it for my usernames. I have since stepped back from being a Mod, but I had made a lot of great friends there and I hope to here as well. Can't wait to get to know more of you.
Oh, and my blog for my chicks. The nerd in me couldn't resist.
