I live in Loveland CO My mom has had chicken for years and I always helped..i have had my own flock now for about a and a year. I have 25 chickens and a goose. 2 of these guys are - I guess you can say handicapped. One is from my mom's original flock and she has a hip problem, the other is a rooster who I believe has gout in his feet..i am constantly looking for ways to help these guys be more comfortable and content with life. I am so amazed by the bond I have developed with them. They remind me of a bunch of toddlers running around curious about EVERYTHING, follow me everywhere, and even lay eggs in my bed every chance they get. They are family, and I LOVE it!

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

It's common for roosters to develop gout if they have access to layer feed. There isn't a whole lot you can do for your other than get them off high protein feed. Apple Cider Vinegar in the water occasionally can help with the uric acid build up. Tart cherry works well too.

So glad you decided to join our community! :)
