(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I grew up on a farm with chickens as a kid, but I haven't had chickens since I was 8. That is until last year 2023 when I got a job as a behavioral mental health specialist at a transitional living facility. They have chickens at the residence the belief is that helping to raise animals often helps residents with specific life skills, and helps them calm down when stressed. I've been working with the chickens since may 2023.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
11

(3) What breeds do you have?

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

Hiya, Mae, and welcome to BYC! :frow Your story is so endearing as many of us, myself included, say that having chickens is therapeutic. :love
yeah my bosses definitely agree and me and all my coworkers love them very much but I do think there is an unfortunate tendency of certain admin staff to treat them more like therapeutic tools than living breathing feeling thinking animals...
