Hi! I'm new and have a question about Niacin! Pretty please! :)

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. Sadly, i know a squat about ducks, but if you post on the duck forum - https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks I'm sure the duck peeps will help you out.

Best wishes

Thank you very much for the advice and tip since I'm a newbie! I appreciate it!

Usually you only need to supplement the extra Niacin until about 10 weeks of age, I believe... but if you feed them Purina Flock Raiser it has higher Niacin content than chick feed and you don't need to supplement...

Thank you very much I appreciate the help! I figured it was only needed while they were growing up to a certain age but I wanted to make sure. What age do you start feeding them Flock Raiser? 10 weeks as well? I knew I had to decrease their protein intake as they were growing as well...I have worried about Angel Wing!

Sorry, I missed your question earlier!

I feed Flock Raiser from hatch to lay, no need to change feeds at all... don't get angel wing either... thought we had it once and did the wrap, but had a couple more look similar and left them go see and they grew out of it no problem... sometimes when their flight feathers are coming in the extra weight makes them look messed up for a bit til they get used to them...

Anyways, hatch to lay for flock raiser and we have lots of happy, healthy, shiny feathered ducks! :)

That's okay thank you for replying! I'm happy to hear all your ducks are happy and healthy! I've been changing feeds because I thought I had to decrease the protein amount and everything but I'll stick with Flock Raiser now and next time we have any babies!
