Hi...I'm New Here. Do Any of You Find Chickens Addicting?

And I thought they had the chicken dance at weddings because everybody loves and is addicted chickens!!! Silly me

Lisa, we were given a flock last fall then included some EE hens. He just fell in love with their sweet temperament and their cute beards and muffs. And that they would climb into his lap when he sat on the ground with some treats. He loves them so much that last March he ordered 25 chicks!

Wish I could get my hubby to take an interest. I have been trying to get him to come to a poultry show for 2 years! He just won't do it. He did express interest in planting a garden next spring

, for the first time. Maybe chickies will be next!

Nah...they aren't addicting! That's why I'm up at 2am to count them and make sure all are ok.

Does anyone else get up to check on their chickens after having a bad feeling? I've chased off a cat, 2 dobermins, eagles and a fox! All on my intuition!! Strange hunh? It's just like the children...when they get quiet; somethings UP!

The way my wife got me interested was, she brought home chickens .... Something new for me to take pictures of

Lisa I'd love to go to a show. Maybe we could get togeather and go, no DH"s allowed.

I used to get up at night to check the chickens, but my DH took pity on me and bought me a chicken cam for the house.

Now all I do is look at sleeping chickens on the monitor! The real truth is DH is addicted too... He is even talking about getting more chickens next year and wondering how many more will fit on the roost spaces!

Hey Marsha,
The next poultry show that I know of in FL will be December 9th in Stuart. Usually there is one in Bushnell in December also, but I have not heard of the date yet. There is one in January in Lake City also. When I get some more dates, I will email you. I wish there were more in FL.
