I am located 1 hr west of Abilene.I will be visiting El paso for the first time in my life in about 2 wks.My oldest boy is stationed there and I want to go spend a 4 day weekend with him while we can.Its so hard to get away with all the critters we have.

If you get the chance go eat at Carlos and Mickey's it's a Mexican restaurant that is delicious! It also has margaritas the size of you head literally lol

Ft Bliss is a pretty nice base too (my husband is stationed there) they just redid all the shopping on post and it's pretty amazing to see the little outdoor mall/px they have set up. It definitely doesn't look like it belongs on an army post lol

I understand it being hard to get away with animals, I have three dogs and a cat and soon to have chickens. We have a friend that helps us with the animals when we leave but we sure are lucky that he is easy to bribe! Our german shepherd doesn't like many people so it's hard to get a pet sitter puts a major damper on traveling!
