Hello all, this is Creede.
I have recently decided to join the backyard chicken lifestyle. I have a wife, two daughters under three, and an eight-year-old Aussiedoodle. We live in a rural Texas town, ~6,500 people.
We have purchased some chicks from TSC and ordered a rare package online through TSC. The in-store purchased chicks include black sex-link, rustic rock, black Australorp and Rhode Island red. All are supposed to be pullets, time will tell. Hopefully this group can help me identify the rare package breeds in a separate post. After splitting up chicks with a relative, we will have a total of 10-12.
We are urgently constructing a chicken coop and run in our backyard currently. Coop is ~8'x8' with 5 nesting boxes and run ~8'x12'. Maybe this will be shared through this group and you all can help correct my mistakes or encourage some pointers.
This group has been everywhere I look online when learning anything chickens. This is the reason I've decided to join the group. It's apparent that all of the experienced chicken owners communicate here.
Looking forward to any discussions in the future and learning from the best.
