I like your username;-)
Welcome to BYC. Chickens are like having canaries, first you spend too much time in the coop, than you wonder why everyone calls the crazy chicken person! Apparently this is the hang-out for a lot of folks... Check out this interesting article:
Ask about Roosters: How to Deal with Aggression, Explained.

Ask about Roosters: How to Deal with Aggression, Explained.

After realizing the need for clarity, I decided to create an article for those of you who have roos with behavior issues, those thinking about adding one to your flock, or if you are just curious since the issue is natural to come up for each of us in even the most docile of males. It is...

Thanks for the article. I've got a 15-week-old cockerel that is starting to show his dominance over a young flock. There has been zero aggression towards me or my family. Should I expect this to change once he fully matures, or is it possible to have friendly roosters without any training/work? Roosters seem to get a bad reputation for aggression, but I'm really enjoying his demeanor and looking forward to letting him lead our flock.

They're teenagers. Young cockerels will be chasey and opportunistic. Older roosters usually have more physical clout and don't have to chase and will attract the ladies with treats, so they usually don't need "training" (but were surely cheeky cockerels once as well!)

I don't allow my cockerels or roosters to hurt the ladies, but they usually don't. If they do, it's not a male I would keep.

ETA: The boys will mature faster than the girls also, so once the girls reach sexual maturity, they will start squatting for the male and he won't have to chase so much as well. ;)

Belated welcome to BYC!
