Hi! I'm new to this, I haven't been around chickens since I was a kid.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We just got 4 Barred Rock chicks yesterday. My family had chickens when I was a kid but now my husband and I decided to get some for our grandkids and us! Lol I am 47.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
4 right now, and we are getting 4 next week.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have Barred Rock now and possibly Brahmas next week when they come in.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I'm not sure yet. Lol I'm hoping they become like pets, with 2 docile breeds.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Sewing, coloring, grandkids, I also am disabled so I'm hoping a few chickens will get me out of the house a little bit to take care of them as I am home almost all the time.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 6 children, 3 adults and 3 in high school. We have 4 grandchildren and 1 on the way. We have fish, and 2 dogs one is a teddy bear named Izzy and the other is a pitbull named Kona who has been so protective and watchful of our baby chicks since we brought them home. Lol she will be an asset when they go outside to the chicken coop, she won't let predators near them. She thinks she's their mom! Lol
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I was looking for an app on Google app store to help with questions I have. Thank you for accepting me.
