Hi, I'm new!

Saw you on the Oregon thread!
Where are you getting your chickens? Are they day old chicks?

I highly recommend an Easter Egger. The blue/green eggs are sooooo fun, especially when you give them out. A couple friends thought I dyed them & were amazed that they were naturally that color!!!

Also Urban Farm Store on the east side is closing at the end of the month & having a big sale. Would be a good place to stock up on supplies at a discount.

Glad to have you here!
Post pix!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I just brought my chickens home today.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
2 and I'll buy 2 more tomorrow.

(3) What breeds do you have? Black Australorp and New Hampshire Red.
I am hoping to find a Silver Laced Wyandotte and either Buff Orpington or Easter Egger tomorrow. The stores say they are in stock, so fingers crossed.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
My bestie has been on this site for years and recommended this site. :)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading, crocheting, gardening and gaming.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
It's my husband and myself as well as our 16 year old son at home. We have a 23 year old son out on his own too.
We have two dogs and three cats.
I work as a Lead on the Medicare denials team for a local hospital.
I am excited and nervous as we start this adventure in chicken raising and eggs.
:welcome

Welcome to BYC! Congratulations on your family's new adventure. My mother lives on the coast! And I am guessing "muggle" is an homage to HP so.... Awesome x2 :)
Hi! I love the Oregon Coast. I dream of retiring there. And, yes, HP all the way! I’m even naming my chicks Hermione, Ginny, Luna and Tonks.
