Hi my name is Rachel. Nice to meet you all! I've read a lot of forums when I've had specific questions but I decided to actual become a member finally.
A little about me:
(1) We just moved to the country 4 years ago after always living in town. So I've had chickens for 3 years now.
(2) I have 11 hens and one rooster currently (plus one extra hen who technically belongs to the neighbor but she's decided she lives in our yard and goes in our coop at night. LOL I tried taking her back a couple times but she just keeps coming back.)
(3) I have
- Blue Laced Red Wyandotte (1 rooster and 2 hens)
- 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte
- 4 Barred Rock hens
- 4 Golden Comet hens
- One "foster" White Leghorn hen (see above!)
(4) I love just sitting out back in my yard with chickens pecking all around. They're so much fun to watch!
(5) I also love gardening, knitting, sewing, and canning.
(6) I'm married and have 5 kids (#6 on the way!). I homeschool. I have a special needs son. Besides our chickens we have a dog, a cat, a snake and a hamster. We also raise meat chickens and turkeys in the summer.
