Hi joined last night but have been look at the post for some time, Just finished the coop and bought 3 Rhode Island Red chicks. javascript:insert_text('

I hope you built a big coop because if you hang around here long enough, those 3 chicks will double and triple.

I started out with 5 now I have 13 showbirds, 25 laying hens and 28 chicks.

only thing I can say is hold them all the time while they are young and when they get older they willl follow you around everywhere!! It really is so much fun!!

Our RIR is at the bottom of the pecking order, probably because she steals everyone's treats. A real chowhound! She is also quite tame, one of the first to jump in our laps when we sit down. I know people will try to talk you into getting more, but personally, I think 3 is perfect for a backyard flock. Best of luck with your new project!
