Hi My other chicken is trying to peck her head. They are all healthy no problems until today. Its been really hot here and I don't know if its that. She won't drink either. Her feet are sort of curled up under her. Is she dying? What can I do to help her?
HELP! Thank you, Jeanie

She is getting old, so she might just be getting ready to go. I would move her into a nice, quiet area with some treats and some water with added vitamins and such. It might be the heat also, so if you can I would move her into an air conditioned space. She might make it, she might not. But you did a wonderful job of raising her if she made it this long.

6yo is getting up there in age for a chicken she maybe getting ready to say goodbye sorry i would put her somewhere quiet and shaded with some treats and cold water and keep an eye on her

@4chickenfarm did she make it thru the night?
Older birds can have a harder time in the heat.
Could try giving her some electrolytes.
Soak a qtip and hold against the side of her beak so the solution wicks into her mouth.
Stroke under her 'chin' and on the front of her neck up high to stimulate her to swallow.

Might be too late for her, but.....
Deep all day shade is best but....I don't have much of that.
This has worked very well to keep heat stress/stroke at bay:

I give a dose of Sav-a-Chick electrolytes/vitamins about once a week during heat waves.
It really seems to help....started this after they saved a heat stroked hen once.
Can mix up a smaller amount, just wrap the packet tight and store in a dry cool place.
Always have plain water available too.

BIG(9x14x2") chunks of ice last all day for wading, sitting, and sipping.
Much more useful to the chickens than frozen foods and treats.
