to hatching chickens.

I had Lavender Orps in the bator the day after my first batch hatched, and Ameraucanas, Salmon Faverolles, Cuckoo Marans, and some of my own mix have joined them, since. And I just caught myself cruising eBay and the BYC Auction page. Is there a gum I can chew? A patch I can put on? Hypno-therapy, maybe?

Oh Lord another addict

We especially hang out in this forum, but there are a couple of other Hatchaholic and Chickaholic threads in Pictures of My Flock and in the Social Section, in Random Ramblings. You'll be able to find the threads, easily.

I was hooked when the very first chick emerged from an egg I was incubating (with a few others). Miracle! How could one NOT be hooked!

The cheeping in the incubator brings this Spring's total to 82 chicks hatched and 3 more hatches to go!

I did give away 8 OEGB chicks and I had one chick die....

I'm building my breeder flock of show birds and diving off the deep end into bantam WYandottes

ETA: I have learned the art of the staggering hatches and my Sportsman is a dream!

I've got it so bad it took me a while to even notice that this forum is only a fraction of what goes on here on BYC. I didn't even look at the others till I realized there was a forum devoted to auctions..and then breeds. I'm hip deep in the Faverolles thread, the Marans thread, the Imported English Orpingtons thread, and the Icelandic chickens thread. I'm a speed reader, but some of them have over a thousand pages of posts. It almost keeps me off eBay.

Almost.

Oh crap, don't do that to me. Don't get me hooked on another breed/type of chicken I can't live without.
It's cruel. Cruel, I tell you!

Got pics?

I got started on them with some badly marked hatchery chicks.... and let me tell you.... NOTHING detracts from the pure awesomeness of bantam Wyandottes. I have dozens of chicks from Andy Anderson in my brooders and I can't wait for them to grow up!

This is a hatchery "Columbian", but I still love him. The Wyandottes free range and come running when they see me and will even try to follow me into the house.

lol, i love all of the addicts on this site. My wife is lucky because we cannot have more than 6 chickens where we live but I am addicted to the chickens I have and spend more time with them than I do with my wife, and my wife is hot - what is wrong with me. I build something new for them every week and keep building add-ons to their coop. I would say they are the best treated chickens in the world if I was not connected to BYC, where everyone is an addict, and people even exceed me with their love of chickens.

Have fun with your hatching, that is awesome.

I'm going to tell you a secret. <looks around, lowers voice to unearthly whisper> I'm technically only supposed to have five. I made pals with the Animal Control guy and he wrote out my permit for the 9 I had. I've got more in the brooder, and more coming, but I'm keeping a select *cough* few and selling the rest.
