Corny, I know.
we have 6 Barred Rocks that are almost a year old (4 gals and 2 roos), a handful of RIR, young pullets and a sweet rag tag 'family' of 4 that were gifted to us this spring. They have such sweet personalities and all different breeds/crosses. The Easter Egger took off for a few days in early June. We found her sitting on a mound of eggs-14 all told. We found her hiding in plain sight. One week ago she took off again. We have searched high and low on 3+ acres of our fields, studded with pine trees. She is nowhere to be found. I did find two eggs, quite a distance from eachother and far away from her normal stomping grounds. Besides a couple feathers near one of the eggs there is no sign of a real struggle. I don't have it in my heart to quit looking for her.
We have been very lucky with our flock security, hoping our luck didn't run out.

Looking forward to learning a lot here!

Aww, cute chickens, and it looks like you have a couple of bantams there..one a roo? I hope you find your girl..or she shows up with some babies in a while.

Hi Cris, nice to meet you. Hope you enjoy Backyard chickens as much as we do. Truly hope your hen comes back leading a string of chicks. Would you have a dog, who might help with the search. They are so much better than humans at things like that. I recall one BYCER who's dog did lead them to their errant hen. She has tangled in berry vines when she hid from a predator, and had to be cut free.

Hoping for her safe return.
