Hi all. I live in central Georgia about an hour south of Atlanta. I need to get my chicks (18 weeks old) out free ranging. I have Premier 1 fencing, but am dreading letting the gang out yet. I see hawks & hear owls. I have some bird netting (not 1st rodeo) but still anxious. I'll expand the chicken runs & get more coops as I can. My sister says I need a 12 step program.

We are all hopelessly caught in the grips of chicken. They are so addicting!

You take risks when you free range and you definitely need to accept their could be losses. I do supervised free ranging due to the high volume of predators. When I can't be around somewhere, I keep them in a large run.

Thanks, I agree with the ventilation suggestions. I have a farm fan in the run and an opening in the rear of the coop. It's hard in the south to get enough cooling. I appreciate the input always.
