Hello from Utah!
We have 12 chicks, my first batch, that are 3 weeks 3 days old today.
My 11 year old son (#3 of 4) and I built a chicken tractor and can't wait to get these guys outside to start processing our garden.
We're chicken sitting for a neighbor this week, and I had my first fresh brown egg the other day.
Read about it here ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=134849 )
It was awesome!
With all the advice I've read on BYC (and books and books) we took our neighbors chicken coop, cleaned it, made nest boxes, and much happier chickens. They want from 5 poopy eggs/day laid under the coop, to 7 eggs with 5 in the (clean) nests... Hope my neighbors appreciate us!
BYC rocks!
Marty
