Hello, I am so excited to be a part of this community!
Here are my answers to the new member questionnaire:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes! We are brand new to this new world of chickens. We got our baby chicks on March 27th.
(2 & 3) How many chickens do you have right now and what are their breeds?
We have 12. 3 Buff Orpington, 2 Barred Rocks, 5 Ameraucana, and 2 Blue Lace.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I’m not sure yet, but we are already loving the interactions we are having with our little ladies. They are getting use to being picked up and handled. And we are excited for getting eggs, when that time comes.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Being with my family, cooking, reading, building things, being outdoors.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are a family of 6. My husband and I have 2 sons and 2 daughters. Our oldest two are in their early twenties and our two younger kids are teenagers. We have one dog, named Mochi. She is a Llewellin Setter/Retriever mix.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
We found BYC on Pinterest, as we were scouring the web trying to learn all we can about raising chickens. This looks like one of the very best places to get great info and help as we start out on this new adventure!
