Hi new here and to chickens

Hi my name is Jennie, I live in Brick, NJ and am a stay at home mom to 2. We are looking to get 4 hens to keep in our backyard for pets and for eggs. The kids are super excited and so is my hubby. We just made the decision yesterday and he is already clearing the area of our yard where the coop will be. Looking to learn from everyone and share in my chicken raising experience.

That is so exciting! We decided to get 4 hens back in March and had the same thoughts... Wouldn'tt a few eggs a day be fun? Hehe.. Fast forward to June and we are at 7 chicken with another 20 eggs in the incubator. This chicken math phenomenon you hear about is real.

Seriously though, your kids will love the chickens. I have a 6 year old and all the kids who come over squeal with delight at the chickens and love the baby chicks.
