Hi, I decided to finally join the group after getting a lot of my information here from searches anyway. Ive already learned a lot here. I am a single Mamaw/Mother who is still raising 3 kids at home and raising two grands for the last 2 years. I have 27 chickens, 2 ducks and two geese. :love

I have 4 light (1 Roo) and 2 buff Brahmas, I have 3 brown and 1 white Leghorn, I have 4 Easter Eggers, 4 (1 Roo) Buff Orpington, 7 Plymouth Rocks (I think 6 may be Roos and will need to be re-homed.) that are all under 1 year old and I have one Red Laced Orpington Roo about 2 years old.

Ive been raising chickens for the last year and still learning! I have just started gathering eggs to try my luck at incubation since I don't seem to have a broody hen yet.

I look forward to learning more and sharing experiences with all of you. :D

Thanks, Mamaws Chickens.

I think I want to Say Welcome to Backyard Chickens hope you find it as wonderful as we all do now would like to call in the grand dam of incubating for you as I do not do allot myself @Sally Sunshine know she does and can turn you into a incubating wizard

Hi, I have about 25 eggs I was going to try an incubate. Do you think that's too many? Im afraid Ill only get 1 to hatch. Giggles.
Welcome to BYC!:frow

I don't think that's too much-I had around 30 eggs in the incubator when i started and now I only 10 are waiting to pip. Might just be my cheap incubator though. I gotta switch it out.

Hello and welcome to BYC - great that you have joined us. I'd say go for it with as many eggs as the incubator holds - it helps create a greater thermal mass that will help hold the temperature better (and a great excuse for more chicks :D).

This forum is likely the best to post any questions that you may have - Incubating & Hatching Eggs

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

All the best

G’Day from down under Mamaws Chickens :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
