Hi.
I just signed up here on BYC. I am new to ducks. Have a bunch that I visit at a lake last 18 month's. Have come on this sight many times in my searches for duck education.
I rescued 2 pekin ducklings that had been dumped at around 1 - 2 weeks old. Now 5 months.
Last week the female suddenly died. Eating and acting normal. While happily bathing in her pool, she made strange sound and looked like a seizure and was gone. It was all very sudden and quick.
The male is so lonely. He's not doing his usual routine. Eats little. Losing weight. Quacks non stop unless I am with him.
Have tried all week to find a companion. Tractor Supply will have ducklings in 2 weeks. Don't know if it's best to get new ones to raise or try to find some his age or older. Alfred is very sweet, smart, and likes to be handled (more so with his girl gone).
I live in Fayetteville, GA. Any suggestions / advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
The chicken forum kindly forwarded me the link to find my state group.
