I figured I'd make it easy on myself and just copy /paste the questions :)

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I'm planning on getting chicks sometime this Spring- but first to build a COOP!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

none yet

(3) What breeds do you have?

We're hoping to get some nice hens that lay colored eggs...still researching this part...

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

I've been lurking for about a year and have decided it's time to join.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I like gardening, crocheting, reading, diy projects- and we're a homeschool fam so we are into a bit of EVERYthing lol

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am the (now divorced) mother of 3 (1 is off to college already) and I'm a self employed software engineer and homeschooler of my two littles.
I have my hands full and thought - heck, let's add some hens to the mix :0P

Thank you

Hi, Neighbor!

I was in a similar spot a couple years ago, and once I got my flock, I never looked back. It's a great location to raise chickens, and people I've met have been genuinely supportive and interested in my hens and what I'm doing up here on the farm. Best of luck to you.

Welcome! SF Bay Area is great for chickens. Never have to worry about snow, and the weather is temperate. There are lots of great coop ideas here and excellent advice about poultry management. And, you'll love the fresh eggs.

Just remember, it's not all wine and roses all the time. You gotta have a tough stomach for some of what the girls will put you through. That being said you have lots and lots of support here on BYC.
