That's a handsome drake. Females would be one shade of brown. Also looks like his curled tail feather is coming in as well

His rump is black, and his head is darkening and turning green(ish)... these distinctive traits mean your duck is a boy, and not a girl.

Im at a loss because there are so many conflicting traits.

What do you mean by "so many conflicting traits"?
Physically, he looks 100% like a boy... (No chance he is a girl!)
