Hi everyone!
Glad I found this forum as I'm just getting into breeding my own chickens and would love to have some knowledgable peoples brains to pick!
I have 2 brown Leg Horn hens and 2 Isa Brown hens so far.
My 2 Leg Horns went broodie about 18 days ago, and as I dont have a rooster a friend gave me some fertilised eggs to put under them. They will be Isa Browns, Spangled Hamburgs, Wyandottes or a mixture of 2 when the chicks hatch. I candled 2 eggs just before (day 16) and was disappointed to find the first one empty. I was curious to see what might happen as my hens are quite young and this is the first time they have been broodie. When I candled the second egg I saw a real live little chicken in there! It was wriggling and all! I was amazed. So it looks like I will be getting at least one chick. I will candle the rest when the girls go out for a scratch tomorrow to see if there are any more living ones, there are 10 eggs under both hens and they love to share!
There will be plenty of questions coming from me in the next few days. I'm a complete beginner when it comes to breeding chickens!

Welcome to BYC!

And I'm certain that there is an Aussie thread on here somewhere.

Good luck with your Leghorn boodies!
