Hi All!

I'm new here, and wanted to introduce myself...I've FINALLY achieved my lifelong dream of chicken ownership, and have set up a little covert backyard coop with six lovely ladies (Buffy the Buff Orpington, Fluffy the Silkie Bantam, Xena the Delaware, Vasquez the Copper Maran, Ripley the Australorp, and my personal favorite, Jenny the Barred Rock). Below are photos of a few of my little girls, and the coop my husband and I made for them. We hope it'll be big enough, but there's always room to expand if we need to... I have 2 questions for the community about my Buff, and my Barred, but that's for a different thread. Hope you enjoy, and just wanted to say how glad I am to be here!

Hi and :welcome

Your chickens are very pretty! I also love your coop. The way you've decorated it is so cool. :p

Enjoy the site!

Thanks everybody! I'm in a coastal VA resort city that believes keeping backyard chickens is tantamount to having a garage meth lab, so it was my goal to make the coop pleasant enough that no one could call the zoning board to report it as an eyesore...fear of urban chickenkeeping has always boggled me, and I've decided to practice my own little bit of civil disobedience. The QT factor has me limited to only 6 hens, no roosters, but I imagine that they're like potato chips...a handful is never enough! My pullets are between 3-4 months, so we're eagerly awaiting our first egg!

Haha, good luck! I'm sure you'll be fine, it's such a pretty coop. :p Maybe you'll be able to get some of your neighbours into chickens. My family was converted in a similar way.
