Hi new to BYC all of the way from the UK

Hello,

Yes have checked for swellings and nothing to note. I did notice yesterday that she had a scrape on the back of the leg but I think that this was probably caused by the limp. I will give it a couple more days then will let her go. First and full most she is a much loved pet and the eggs are a bonus, my priority is ensuring that she doesn't suffer uneccessarily. Sad as it is.

Hi CorrineP,

Yes I think it has for me too! I could never understand how my husband became so enthusiastic with the forum that he is on but now all has become clear!!!

If you still have her, you could always put her on some antibiotics - if it's an infection they will clear it up. Can you believe we had a tornado here in rugby today, not common, hit about half a mile away from here, glad it never got my chucks!

Hello, sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately Doris is now much worse. I have decided to euthanize her which is very sad indeed. She now has paralysis of the wing and lost significant weight. All signs are pointing towards Mareks which is unfortunate as she was vaccinated for this. The vets were going to charge me £70 to put her to sleep as I wouldn't be able to do this myself. Fortunately we have a friend who is a farmer who will do this for us.

A Tornado in Rugby!!!! unbelievable all we are getting is rain and more rain.

Thanks for your reply and advice, much appreciated.

£70! that's expensive, my vet charged me £19.00 to have my last one put to sleep, can't believe how much some charge. I'm sorry to hear about Doris, just take comfort in knowing she had a good life and will not suffer anymore. I was upset when I had my little Elizabeth put to sleep but looking back it was the best thing for her. I hope things get brighter for you.
