We got our first every ducklings about 2 1/2 weeks ago, they are 3 weeks old now and growing like crazy. 1 pekin still working on a name, 1 khaki Campbell named Chocolate.
First time with ducklings.... sooooooooooooo much to learn. I am excited to get it right and find a new topic daily to figure out. Proper nutriton. Keeping water contained. Safe shelter outside. Desirable sleeping area. Just switching brooder containers over the first 2 weeks keep me hopping. Day 1 was a box, then a large plastic bin (large is very relative in duckling growth), then a larger TALLER plastic bin, and now a fenced in area in the dinning room. HAHA they are going to have the whole first floor of our house before they are old enough to be outside overnight.

Next on our list is finishing up the outside enclosure so when they are ready to go out overnight it is ready. Large metal dog kennel (2 fencemaster cottageview kennels creating a 15x5 foot pen that is 4 feet tall. I plan to add 1" hardware wire and then small opening lattice over that to keep them safe and sound. We will bury the hardware wire in the gound 6 inches or more to prevent any attempts of a break in. I am trying to come up with an easy way to keep their water draining out of the pen so it doesn't smell. soooooooooooooo much to learn still.

When I used to have spare time before the ducklings arrived I enjoyed crocheting, baking and babysitting. I am 51, married 32 years, 2 son, 1 granddaughter, and mamma duck to 2 of the sweetest ducklings!!!
Looking forward to getting to know you all over this new adventure I'm on now!! Quack!!
