Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Cute names of your babies!!

Enjoy them as they grow fast. Make yourself at home and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Welcome to our flock!

Welcome to BYC! If you really end up with 4 cockerels you will need to either get a lot more pullets or separate them from the pullets to avoid over breeding, feather loss and possible injuries. Best of luck to you.

Welcome to the site, to you, too, Jburts. :)

Dogs can be pretty bad when it comes to chickens. :( Our whole flock we had a few years back got wiped out by a couple of dog up to no good.

That's awesome that we named our chickens the same haha. XD My Rocky and Bullwinckle appear to be boys, though. Still not sure.

Did you mean Araucanas? The ones that lay blue eggs? That is so cool! :D

I need a new coop. I'd like to just build one, but I'm not really any good with that kind of thing haha. My husband can build a computer, but I'm pretty sure he'd lost trying to build a coop. XD I just need to buy something, I guess. *shrug*

liz9910 , Yeah, I worry that I will have so many roosters. I will probably have to sell all but one, it just really sucks because I love them all already! Especially my two buffs and they are for sure roos. I've heard that you can keep a flock of roosters together and they will be fine with eachother as long as they don't have any hens around to fight over. Is this true? I really hate to think of parting with any of them.

You can keep a bachelor flock of roosters, if they are non-game breeds and have been raised together especially, they will often get along fine with each other with no girls to fight over. I tend to keep more roosters than I need just because they are pretty, usually the heavy breeds like Orps are not a problem in a bachelor flock.

You might check out the Coops section, many of the coops on there have pretty detailed plans on how to make them, if you can find someone in your area who builds thing (might post on your state thread if anyone knows of anybody) you can usually build or have built for you a much better coop than you can buy for the same price. Also a lot of people convert things like garden sheds etc that you can buy as kits from home improvement stores.
