Hi new to this,

Ok wish us luck. He's going in his tub by my bed I'm hoping with my hand resting in it by him hel go to sleep, thank u so much and il keep u posted.

I don't know, truthfully that sounds like it's a wild duckling. And with how little it is, it's unlikely that it's been dumped. I would check your local laws and see what its says about possession of migratory ducks. My state has laws on it, something about being able to keep wild ducks for 25 days but it's illegal to keep them longer. Domesticated ducks have their own set of laws. I hope it all works out for you though :)

The baby was dumped. There is not a wild duckling in the world that would walk up to people. Even my ducklings that are born here under their mom are terrified of me at first for a few weeks.

Ducks are flock animals. It will do best with another duckling. They need constant companionship. Even 2 will probably peep incessantly but they will be able to comfort each other. Single ducks need to be kept inside, it is unfair to house them outside alone once they are grown. So, if you are okay with an indoor duck for 10 years or more, more power to you.

I don't have the time or patience for an indoor duck, tried once for 3 days, then he went out with my other ducklings.

I would go to Tractor Supply or a local feed store (call first to see if they have any) and buy another duckling. Many stores won't sell only 1 but you can try explaining that you have a rescue and want just 1 friend.

U mean u can tell its a mallard duck by that pic? And what do u mean leg bands to show they aren't wild? Aren't they?

Yes your duckling looks like a mallard, though if it was dumled it could be a rouen, but it looks just like any other mallard duckling you would see at a pond. It's illigal to own wild migratory birds such as Canadian geese and wild mallards. Without something distinguishing the wild from the domesticated there would be no to tell the difference between which ones you can legally own and which ones you can't.

My kids brought her home from the park. My husband saw it swim up in the pond and said he climbed out of the water and in my daughters lap, no mom or other babies. Maybe about 2 weeks old. Not sure. He is in one of those see through plastic storage containers with a towel and a small blanket. I'm going to the feed store tom for food. I was told crushed Cheerios would be ok, but do I let him have a bowl of water to sit in or just drink from? Right now he's flipping out bc I put him down.

This is definitely not a 2 week old duck - looks more like 2-3 days, if that. Absolutely adorable though. :)
If it's missing one, or maybe both, of its back toes (the ones higher up on the leg), then it's domestically hatched.
