I am new to raising chickens. I raised ducks and geese as a kid, but this is the first time with chickens

I have 6 Buff Orpingtons. The intent was for me to keep 3 and my son to keep 3. But as it appears there are 2 roosters and we won't be keeping them, so I will end up with 4 hens and he is out of luck.

I came across BYC on the internet trying to get some answers to the "is itRoo/Hen" question.

Me and my husband are empty nesters and I just put some chicks back in the nest. ha. They are now 6 weeks old and I am having a blast. I spend way too much time with chickens and not enough time doing the things I should be doing.

dspears,

Welcome. I'm new to the whole chicken raising thing too and never thought it would be this fun. My wife and I had a blast building the coop and watching them get acclimated to it. Now we love to sit out back with the kids and watch the chickens while they free range around the yard. I've already been putting together new plans for another coop. I have 3 Buff Orps and 3 RIR. Our 2 younger chicks are a mixed breed.

Best of luck to your new hobby!!
