Lauren, great to meet you! We are in Chelsea too and in the exact same situation (first timers and keen to pick up any tips). We'll be starting with 12 chickens in a 6X8 coop which we're planning to build ourselves. We're over on Mullen Road. We are curious about whether there are any bylaws about this because the municipality said they would be doing a random stop in sometime this summer. We'll be calling them, likely next week, so we can let you know what we find out if you're interested.

We are in Kirk's Ferry and have not made much progress so far on the coop - very much still in the planning stages as we are also working on a large garden project and house renos! Would love to collaborate on ideas...
As far as bylaws go... I really don't know what the regulations are and am not keen to find out! My small road already has 2 coops on it, we'll be the third, and our aim is to build a discrete coop that won't attract any attention.
Anyway would love to chat more so will try to send you my email now!
