Hi there from a new member all the way down here in New Zealand

I am from Australia and I LOVE New Zealand! We had our honeymoon there, on the North Island, its wonderful - I want to move over but no one else does...
Hope your chicken situation improves - I won't even try to hatch an egg... we aren't allowed to keep roosters and I get attached to everything so if I had a boy it would be a disaster!!
As a fellow newbie to the site, welcome and everyone has been so helpful!

yeah it doesnt sound like a disease from your coop, so this is just flat out strange! I would only suggest to try again, this time, if i was u, i would buy hatching eggs from another breeder! not to say you didnt receive good eggs, but sometimes different breeder linage just work better. and you might want to try a different breed this time, unless your just set on having barnevelders. it looks like trail and error will be key to having a successful hatch for you.

On the other note, I live out in the country too, so I have lots of space! and i just love the outdoors! chickens become a passion once you've raised them from chicks to adults. and when i say passion i mean addiction! ha. stay using the forums and you'll grow in your admiration for chickens, i promise! you might want to post your question in a different section to hope for a better answer. heres 2 links, create a thread in each one asking the same question and give them all the details you gave me! again i wish you the best of luck!

Thanks. I stumbled onto this site while surfing the net at work. Really enjoying it!

I live in Auckland as well, but South down in the Hunua ranges. Beautiful country!

thanks. First forum I've ever joined and loving how many welcomes I'm getting!!!

You chose a great place for your honeymoon then. I have only been to Oz once, went to Perth and just loved it. The only thing I wasn't in love with was the size of your bugs!!! They are enormous compared to ours!
Losing the chicks has been hard. I try to keep telling myself what a dairy farmer friend told me a while ago, "where there is livestock there is deadstock" but it's still hard when you lose the whole clutch!
Thinking I may get some young chicks rather than trying to hatch but will need to do a bit more homework first.
We live out in the country, just out of Auckland so not too far out. Used to be a city girl but my heart has always been in the country and now the dream has come true.
I'm loving this site! Everyone is so friendly and helpful!!!

Thanks

I'm curious about the high content wolf dogs??? We don't have wolves here, is that a domestic that has bred with a wolf?
New Zealand buck, I'm assuming that's a deer? How did you manage to get that? I'm surprised how many Americans know where NZ is! We are so small and far away I didn't think it would be that well known.
My fiance has been over to the States a few times and always had to explain where he was from. A lot thought it was part of Australia

Still, my geography of your country is pretty bad, but it's definitely on my list of "go to" places!!!
