Hi there!
I'm new to the forum but not new to the chicken world
When I was about 7 years old, my family purchased two chickens. A white leghorn roo and a Rhode Island red hen. The roo was evil and attacked everyone but my dad, so he was kept on the side of our yard in a large run type of a thing. The hen was sweet and loved getting scritches on her head and was super friendly. She was able to get to the roo, but he wasn't able to get out of the run. The wire spacing was too small for him.
The roo passed on when I was 11 and the hen passed on when I was 13. She was like family. We purchased some silkies, but they were both roos, and since we moved to the city, we had to sell them because of the noise. Sadly, we never got chickens again.

Growing up, I had a crazy love for all animals. I've had a few pets, but over the years, I've had to cut down the number because of school and not enough time.
Now that I'm in college, I still stay at home for my studies, many which are online. I am a music major, but my gen ed is primarily online. Anyways

I currently own a German Shepherd pup(10 months old), a koi/goldfish pond with about 20 fish, a 60 gallon tank inside with goldies and a small 10 gallon with bettas.

Recently, I've got this itch for chickens again. Since we'd moved into the city, it's going to be tough, but I'm willing to fight for it. Of course, I have to get hens. I will post a thread because I have lots of questions.
So yeah. :P I'm here, and I'm excited to be here. I've heard many great things about this forum and how loving it can be. I'm looking forward to being a long term member :)

If you wanted housepet chickens you should consider seramas (the smallest breed) which were bred in Malaysia to be housepets, silkies are docile and good in the house.

Some vendors on here sell chicken diapers. My friend has had various breeds off and on for well over 20 yrs. She had them all as housepets, most of the silkies, but does have seramas now too.

She doesn't use diapers and lets them roam the house, so is always cleaning up but, her house doesn't have any bad odors. I only mention housepets in case you didn't want neighbors to know you have chickens.

Thank you, both :)

And thanks for the suggestions. I would love a silkie or serama, but I don't want to get attached to the chicks only to find out we have a roo on our hands. I don't mind the neighbors knowing we have chickens. :) As long as we don't have something loud or a roo, we are good to go :)
