What did you do in the garden today?

I have a partial set of mini bread machine books. I do the dough by hand, but there's not one dud recipe in them. It's really nice as they recipes have 3 each, small-medium-and large loaf.

64 degrees today and windy. I spent the whole afternoon chainsawing down invasive cedar trees in the cattle pasture. I've managed about 6 or so acres so far. I haven't TOUCHED the 20 foot trees or the plum, ironwood, or olive trees. Those will be easier with the skid steer the other rancher will bring in. Me cutting the cedar trees down by hand means less time the skid steer guy has to be there, saving $$.

Now there are 3. Sigh.
I lost half my herd. HALF MY HERD. He was the baby (8), sweet, sassy, soft- and my supreme grand champion fleece alpaca.
I bought him 3 weeks more than the others, but he was just going downhill for the past week and all I was doing was drugging him to help keep him comfortable. Numb. I'm just numb.

Im so sorry . That is a hard loss.

Been a minute since I checked in.
I do a lot of cat rescue and tnr here and I probably got distracted by work and cuteness.

My garden has been rockin' it and keeping me in greens for months. Leaks are leaking, tomatoes are starting their second season and tomatoing, and broccoli is FINALLY starting to flower. Soursop and starfruit has kept me in fruit too. I am happy to have cut my food bill. Enough to purchase another garden bed!! Got it build and filled with logs and plant debris. Need to fill with soil and compost, waiting for the rains to pass. Need to get my new tomato starts in the dirt before it starts warming.
A green fix for you all. Spring is around the corner. Hang in there!!!

after 2 summer like days it is raining and cooler. my lettuce in my big (full sun) garden bolted picked most of romanesco cauliflower.

At first, I have been seeing only two eggs a day in my nest box. Now, I am seeing 3 to 4. I like the dark brown color eggs of these young Red Star hens. I am hoping that they all go into full production mode next month and start laying jumbo eggs.

I am planning on butchering two adult Isa Brown roosters to make room for 3 Breese/Cornish x/Isa Brown cockerels to be butchered latter and keep only one white colored meat cross rooster with yellow legs in isolation for breeding.

Waiting to start my tomato seeds.... It's so hard to wait.... I hate waiting...

I've been feeling unusually depressed the last few days. I yelled at my spouse last night. I'm not sure what I need to do to feel better, but I'm sure it'll pass. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I get in my own head and it's a sort of downward spiral.

The seeds I started on Friday are still just seeds and dirt. I put some nasturtium seeds in cups of soil a few weeks ago, didn't water them, didn't touch them, now they're sprouting and happy. Go figure.

Being outside, exercise, vitamin d and fish oil helps me.

Waiting to start my tomato seeds.... It's so hard to wait.... I hate waiting...

I am still waiting for my poblano peppers to germinate. I have them in a glass Petri dish with moistened tissue. I planted them in potting mix outside on my first attempt, but it did not sprout. I got my seeds a few months ago. The wait is horrible, especially if they don't sprout.
