Hi everyone! My name is Kenzie and I reside in Chetek, Wisconsin!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first chicks last spring from Hoover's Hatchery!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Right now I have 14, we sadly lost one this last fall which I believe was due to our girl being egg bound.
(3) What breeds do you have?

Sapphire Gem's. (3 Female Black Copper Marans & 3 Female Wheaten Olive Eggers as well as a Black Ameraucana rooster ordered for this coming May - going to attempt incubating after this year).
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

My favorite aspect of raising backyard chickens is that I know exactly where my eggs are sourced from. Fresh eggs are 10x better in my opinion than buying from the store, which I'm sure you all can agree. It is very satisfying being able to go grab them from our coop and making them for breakfast or in baking whenever I need.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Hunting, fishing, camping and watching movies!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My husband and I eloped last April in Big Bend State Park, Texas and then purchased our dream property in June which has just over 42 acres and a private access lake as our backyard. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats that keep us busy when we are not both working full time as police officers in our area.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found BYC when searching for answers about what was wrong with my girl prior to her passing. Unfortunately it was too late at that point in time but I am eager to learn more in hopes of correcting my deficiencies raising chickens.
