I just joined the group and looking to talk chickens! Have Icelandic's and buff orphingtons. Raised poultry in my youth and got back into it a year ago with 6 icies which four ended up as roos so gave few away and kept two pullets and a roo. This summer one hen hatched 6 and are three weeks old now. Picked up 7 more this summer in NH 6 pullets and a roo to help get more diversity in my growing flock.They are 5m old. The buffs are kept separate have 6 of them only 4 months old and enjoy having them all.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm envious as I would love to have some Icelandic chickens, but unfortunately they are quite rare and expensive so I've never purchased any. Thanks for all the tips and sure will be asking all sorts of questions. Icelandic owners are very devoted due to saving an old breed and trying to keep pure as they are an awesome breed. As I text working on new coup for eggs I just ordered and waiting to arrive for the incubator will be my first try at incubating. Hopefully a good hatch as want to have a few more hens and future roo
