Hi!

I've just signed up to BYC!!!

We got our chickens a few days ago and since they have settled in really well- and showed some of their cheeky personality! We have four, and we called the Buttercup hen, um, Buttercup,

the Gingernut ranger Henrietta, the Rhode Rock Poppy and our Speckledy Rosemary. So far, Buttercup and Rosemary have both managed to slip under our arms as we reached in to change the water.

I am fourteen, and I do most of the work with the chickens and with our rabbits as well. Before school, I used to sweep the rabbit run, feed them and change their litter trays. Now the chickens have arrived, i'm relying on my Dad to change the litter trays in the morning, because he doesn't like the chickens and I don't have time to do both. Apparently chickens smell.

We have an eglu, which is really quick and easy to clean, though, so it's not that bad.

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Hi Maddy,

How are you liking the eglu coop???

Hi Maddy, Welcome to BYC

Your chicks will have lots of fun flowing you around and being hand fed by you. The more you inter act with them the tamer they become. There are quiet a few younger members here that also raise chickens. I am sure you will meet some of them as you read some of the posts here in the forums. Best of luck with your chicks.

How are you liking that eglu coop? Which one did you choose,
and why?

You sound like a really great young person, and I hope you
continue working with animals. Nothing like it. Are you in a 4-H,
or FFA in your area?

Glad to see you join us.
