Hi there,
I'm new here and new to the poultry farming. We have 50 chickens on our farm. It only being a week, but the waste they produce is huge. I'm feeling tired with the waste removal. I would like to get your suggestions for keeping the farm clean. Hope that I can learn more about the chicken farming from here.

Hi and welcome to BYC. I'd suggest checking out the learning centre or searching for "deep litter" for methods of reducing the labour involved in keeping your flock.

Best wishes

We are having a coop made of net. The four side is of the net without any basement.
I have gone through an article about the deep litter method. I read that this method is mainly used in the winter season. Really interesting in the technique since it turns the waste into manure. Is there any resell value for the chicken manure? Don't think that I'm completely over the money and business. Seriously, I don't have any use with the chicken manure. We don't have any garden or ranch, so it is a bit hard to dispose of it. Also, about the deep litter method, I read that this method is not recommended to do during the warm season. Can I proceed it in this season? My actual plan was to hire any junk removal service providers but I'm hesitated in getting their services since I have to pay them. I would like to get more ideas like the "deep litter method" from you. I think it is a method for disposing of the waste without labor.

I live in the deep south.., HOT Texas and use the deep litter method year round...no problems for me.

This video may help you learn how to use this site better:

With the deep litter method, the bottom layers begin to decompose, making compost. You don't throw out the litter every day or so. It's far less work intensive. Once a year, maybe more often, depending on your set up, a portion of the litter is removed and utilized for compost.

In five months I've not had to remove any litter from the coop. I have 10 roosting in a 6x8 coop.

Every other day or so, I use a small take to mix the droppings into the litter a bit. The coop is well ventilated, and stays nice and dry. There is no odor problem or fly problem, as I feared there might be. In glad I am using the deep litter method.
