Hey folks Just joined. I’ve been a chicken keeper off and on ( mostly on) for almost 10 years.
Currently having to start over because a dog ( or two) dug into my enclosure and killed ALL 13 of my babies 😭😭😭😭. It was a devastating morning to walk out to greet my chickens only to see them all scattered and dead through out the coop.
Thankfully my ladies( RIR & Americana) were active layers and I hadn’t collected in 2 days. Even with the dogs scattering the eggs in the coop I was able to salvage 9 and begin incubating them. We’re on day 7 and candling shows LIFE!! Yay. This will be my first time hatching eggs without the aid of a mother hen.

I'm so sorry about your flock! I once had a similar experience when half of my flock died from eating Virginia Creeper berries. But I do think it's cool that you can just collect eggs from your flock and hatch them!

That's Pretty sad. But we welcome you to our forums. I know that you can bounce back in no time. we here can help you with useful tips so that incident wont happen again.

Have you installed a predator apron around the coop and run to keep out future digging predators? Domestic dogs are some of the worst chicken predators out there.
