Hi, I'm G. I live in North Carolina by the coast. What a wealth of great information you have here. A little over a year ago a neighbor gave me a couple of day old chicks (unplanned). I was clueless so I pecked the brains of local farmers. They said "you can't have just 2 chickens. They need a flock. One may die and chickens are not good solo." Feeling guilty I went and got 4 more once I got coop set up. Now I'm a chicken mom to 6 hens. (That wasn't on purpose) Now 6 months together and the older 2 still refuse to speak to the younger 4. I learned by self educating but I sure wish I'd found this site sooner. As for breeds.. they all are different sizes and colors (a silkie, a polish, a little red Bantam not sure about others). But I'm still learning, and welcome tips or suggestions. Thank you for reading my intro essay. Lol.
